Perched high above the city, this ancient citadel is home to archaeological icons like the Parthenon and the Erechtheion, with its famous Caryatid columns (often called the “Temple of Maidens”). Kathy’s favorite way to experience the ruins is to explore just before sunset, wearing sturdy shoes to navigate the well-worn, often slippery stones, and take in the breathtaking views of “Golden Hour.” Be sure to check seasonal entry times, as they vary.
